Mattie J.T. Stepanek, Dove of Peace

    Text: Solveig Hansen

I write about anything that touches the essence of my existence. What I witness, what I feel, what I think, what I fear, what I treasure. I write about life, which is our greatest gift.” – Mattie Stepanek, 1990-2004

Mattie J.T. Stepanek, poet, peace creator and philosopher, only 14 years old when he passed away, dedicated to the promotion of world peace and love, is awarded the IFLAC Dove of Peace Certificate. “May his brilliant and crucial ‘heartsong’ poetry live forever and bring forth a better world,” Ada Aharoni wrote to Jeni Stepanek, Mattie’s mother.

We have previously published two of Mattie’s poems, The Job of the Poet and his famous For the World, which he wrote on September 11, 2001.
