    Evening for Peace in Goya

    Text: Solveig Hansen

IFLAC Argentina Delegate in the city of Goya and Corrientes province, writer Maria del Rosario Gomez de Balbuena, was one of the coordinators of the Evening for Peace (Velada por la Paz) in Goya. The event was part of Jornadas por la Paz (Days for Peace), organized by the University of Cuena del Plata May 2nd and 3rd.

Among the speakers at the Evening for Peace were Dr. Ernesto Kahan, IFLAC International Vice President, and Dr. Susana Roberts, IFLAC Vice Director in Argentina and South America. In keeping with the IFLAC statutes, Roberts talked about the importance of the literature of peace and how writers can help create a culture of peace by giving students and parents educational tools for peace, harmony and values. “A culture of peace protects life,” Roberts said.

They also met with students of the University and were declared “Distinguished Visitors” by the Communal Chief of Goya.

    BLUE ECHOES

    By Susana Roberts

The history tells what happened, poetry that was to happen: “Aristótele”

Love comes in spirits of Peace
    to take care of echoes
the whisper of the harp in the garden

    Blue fury comes and
at the end of the road
    people
    rushing laws
    on the earth of apples

Comes the mediations and the power
    a splendor of shadows

Peace … postponed Peace … will come!
    strong between bustling lights
    folding winter
    of murder weapons

    will come … who
    do not ask
    about natural nudity
    candles of Eden that
    gradually is consumed
    in every war
    in each empty stomach

    blue echoes will come
    while people drink their wine
    and celebrate their sales

will also come hunger and drought

    Oh my sweet Peace!
    my clear spring
    my sun, my light
    do not delay, hurry back

We have to confront the evil!

We have to turn on the headlights!

    We must stay stand up!
